American journalist Michael George decided to test out his theory he’d be able to cook the perfect medium rare steak in the dishwasher and it appeared to work
Everyone has their own idea of how a steak should be cooked – whether you prefer it blue like the French or a little more well done. Either way, the chances are, the majority of us are frying it.
Sure, you can stick it in the oven to cook from the inside out, or you might even cook it in the slow cooker so that it falls to soft, delicious pieces.
But, apparently, there’s one more kitchen appliance we could be using to cook the perfect steak, and it’s not what you might expect.
American news reporter Michael George claims to have cooked the perfect medium rare steak, using some vacuum packed plastic and his dishwasher. No, seriously, his dishwasher.
The journalist took to Twitter to share a clip of himself vacuuming packing the impressive piece of meat, before chucking it in the dishwasher – because who needs to waste 10 minutes standing over a frying pan when you can waste 96 minutes and a lot of electricity waiting for your dishwasher?
Once the wash was up, Michael removed the steak from its plastic casing and it was, in fact, cooked. He did however then place the steak in a frying pan with some oil and herbs for two minutes to get the delicious crispy edge, which kind of defeats the point, but hey, who are we to judge?
“Omg it actually worked! I cooked a steak in the dishwasher and it came out AMAZING,” he wrote in a tweet alongside the clip.
We certainly can’t knock Michael for his creativity in the kitchen, but somehow it just doesn’t seem worth it to us.
